frequently asked questions
What are your hours?
Daytime and evening appointments are scheduled Tuesdays through Thursdays. We do not accept walk-in or weekend appointments and we are closed on holidays.
Do you work with young children?
Counseling is available for those ages 14 and up. For younger children, we recommend seeking a Child Psychologist or Therapist specialized in working with children, including those certified as a Child-Centered Play Therapist or Registered Play Therapist.
What insurances do you participate with?
We are in-network providers with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (and therefore, other out-of-area BCBS plans) and Highmark Health Options, a Delaware Medicaid plan. For those with other insurance plans, a self-pay arrangement is made and we can provide a statement for clients who wish to access out-of-network reimbursement as available through their plan.
How long are sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are scheduled for approximately 50-60 minutes.
Do you prescribe medication?
We do not prescribe medication in our office but can provide referral information for local Psychiatrists or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who can assess, prescribe and monitor medications when recommended.
Do you offer court-ordered evaluations or counseling?
No, we do not provide court-ordered services. For those anticipating a need for court documentation or testimony, we recommend obtaining the services of a Forensic Psychologist, Evaluator, or certified Expert Witness.
I have additional questions and would like more information. Can I talk to someone before scheduling an appointment?
Yes, Dawn Schatz is happy to speak with you and she can be reached directly at (302) 898-1616. She returns all calls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, often in the evening when necessary. Due to frequently high call volume and her appointment schedule, a return call may occasionally take up to 2 business days but rest assured, you will always receive a return call.
